It was reported in the newspapers last week that Scotland is to reduce the drink drive limit from 80mg per 100ml to 50 mg per 100ml blood bringing it in line with Northern Ireland & most of the rest of Europe and leaving England and Wales standing alone with the higher level of 80mg per 100ml blood.
The change in the law comes into force this December 5th and will mean that police in Scotland will be breathalyzing motorists at the lower level.
The change is designed to stop drink driving by motorists and is timed to coincide with the launch of Scotlands annual festicve crackdown on drink driving.
The advice to motorists is to not drink any alcohol at all if they are driving.
All our digital breathalysers are set to the lower EU and now Scottish level of 0.05% BAC ( blood alcohol concentration ) which is equivalent to 50mg per 100ml blood alcohol
